Soulmate secrets from the relationships around you

Part of being accountable for our lives is understanding that the ‘buttons’ others push in us, are mirrored projections of an unhealed or unconscious part of ourselves. Indeed, our relationships are the clearest, brightest mirrors displaying what's in our hearts. Even if what's inside isn't comfortable to see.

Over time, I have begun to notice the relationships around me in a new way. I'm attuned to them, because I know that they have information for me.

At times, I have to admit that sometimes, I've idealized others' relationships, from the outside in. I don't tend to be an envious person, yet witnessing a long marriage, beautiful home or affluent partnership, I'd wonder how someone got so ‘lucky’.

The purpose of heartbreak

Don't know about you, but I've been there: desperately trying to stay afloat in the depths of an emotional abyss. Spinning with no end in sight.

Well first, let me say: if you hold on, if you keep searching: you will emerge. And then slowly, you'll become more, well: You.

Resisting this? Play with me a moment. To do this, imagine a time in your life when you had it all figured out. You're a child, fearless. You think you've met your soulmate. You got that job, or you got into that school.

How much time did you spend on inner questions? Next to none, right? When life is going tickety-boo and there's no discomfort, why go there?

When you dream of an ex, what does it mean? (my story)

In my romantic past, there have been three men for whom I truly mourned when it was over. In all of these cases, they were situations where chemistry on every level ran deep, yet truly knowing and loving one another never had a chance to begin.

There have also been many whose presences in my life were fleeting, dramatic and excruciatingly painful, lined with illusion and confusion.

Each time I had one of “those” experiences, my heart opened further. I wrote. I softened. I grew. So I hold all of these men in my heart, especially those for whom I mourned deeply, with Love: for they made me who I am today. They were Catalystic Partners, if you will, if not partners for life.

Handling a broken heart: Six reasons why it happened and making sure it never happens again

Your story goes something like this:

The Soulmate Continuum: How every person you meet has the potential to be your soulmate

When it comes to the concept of soulmates, I passionately believe that every relationship we've ever (or will ever) have resides somewhere on what I call The Soulmate Continuum. Picture a sliding scale with Conflict or Obligation (karma) at one end — and Love, Acceptance Freedom at the other.

Secrets about introverts and Love (are you one?)

I re-discovered my natural introverted self two years after during a job interview. I ended up still being an introvert personality with an intuitive twist — no surprise — but also ended up being an INFP “Feeling Perceiving” which was described as a Joan of Arc type who would die for her values. Um — that explains a few things.

This blog post evolved into a reflection on what happens when you're passionately yourself.

Does online dating mess with fate?

Not too long ago, a luvly woman wrote me to thank me for sharing my inspirational interview with Elmdea, who met her soulmate online in mid life — and she asked me the following:

“Dear Karen — I've always presumed that meeting a ‘soulmate’ on an internet dating site was not possible, as I've always thought of this method as not leaving things up to fate. Elmdea's story has made me think otherwise — do you have anything that you can add to that?”

Well — yes I do have a few things to add. Hope you enjoy!
